Dry Lake Bed

We saw two rather large lakes on the map and heading towards them as our campsite for the evening. When we arrived my spirits sunk: we found the very shallow remains of the lake, surrounded by deep mud. We ended up camping in the dry lake bed (a first in the Sierra) and spending an eerily silent night (no water = no wildlife). Our initial disappointment was followed by the realization that this was an incredibly unusual experience - Rob, the optimist, saw it as something that it may be decades before anyone would experience again. Me, the pessimist, wondered if this was a vision of our future dry landscape.
