Sacramento River Deep Water Ship Channel

I really wanted to see a large cargo ship cruise through here but it was a Saturday so we got to see lots of people fishing instead. This perfectly straight channel was completed in 1963 for ease of navigation to the Port of Sacramento; ships used to get lost in the network of sloughs, espcially on foggy days. It's 43 miles long with an approximate depth of 30 feet and areas up to 200 feet wide. The Port of Sacramento is primarily used for the export of bagged and bulk rice.
