Optical Illusion: which way is the water flowing?

At one point we passed this section of the river where it looked like the river was flowing up and over a hump in the granite. It was just a visual illusion and I tried to photograph it. The photograph doesn't quite capture it but I think it still looks a little mysterious. Answer: downstream! but seriously: from right to left.
