Kelso Dunes

Mojave has its own sand dunes, Kelso Dunes. They’re not the highest dunes (600 foot climb to the top) but they have the unique quality of making a “booming” sound when the sand avalanches. It’s a fun climb to the top and we were able to hear the booming sound on our way down the steep face of the highest dune – it was pretty cool – sort of sounded like a digeridoo.
