Circular Winds

The dunes were formed by circular wind patterns. Sand blowing in from the Mojave River basin on westerly winds hits the winds coming in from the other three directions and gets deposited in this basin. This circular wind pattern is evident in the marks in the sand made by the blades of grass growing in the dunes – see the circular arcs?
